The root cause is almost always the same. The agency starts building before the plan is locked. The client asks for changes mid-build. Everything must be unpicked and rebuilt at significant cost. The timeline slides, the budget stretches, and the relationship sours before the site even launches.
We have seen this happen enough times to have built our entire process around preventing it. The Clear Path methodology means every project runs through six defined stages in the same order. Nothing starts until the previous stage is complete. Nothing is built until the design is approved. That sounds straightforward. Most agencies do not do it.

Every website we build, regardless of size or sector, follows the same six-stage process. Here is what that looks like.
Stage 1.
Plan
We start by understanding the project properly. Objectives, requirements, site architecture, page structure, content and assets, technology stack, hosting, and timeline. The plan is the map for everything that follows, and nothing moves forward without it. Skipping this stage is how projects derail. We do not skip it.
Stage 2.
Design
With the plan in place, we design the site. For a standard business website, this means seven unique page designs covering the homepage, about, services, individual service and landing pages, blog and resources, individual article pages, and the contact page. For an eCommerce site, we design ten unique styles covering every key template the finished site will use.
Every other page on the site is a variation of one of those templates. The design phase is where your site goes from a plan to something you can see, respond to, and sign off on.
Stage 3.
Approve
You review the design and tell us what to change. We refine until you are satisfied. Only once you have formally signed off on the design do we move to build. This protects you from a finished product that surprises you, and it protects the project timeline from expensive mid-build changes. Your sign-off is the green light. Nothing is built without it.
Stage 4.
Build
With the design approved, we build the site. Because the structure, architecture, and visual direction are already agreed, the build phase runs efficiently and on schedule. SEO foundations are embedded during the build, not added afterwards. Page speed, structured data, mobile responsiveness, internal linking architecture, these are part of the specification, not afterthoughts.
Stage 5.
Launch
Once you have reviewed the functional site and confirmed you are happy, we launch it onto a secure server. The site goes live having been through every stage of the process properly, which means far fewer surprises after launch and a site that is ready to perform from day one.
Stage 6.
Maintain
A website is not a one-time project. It needs to be updated, monitored, and improved over time.
